ABAP is the programming language used to program the business logic of an SAP NetWeaver-based system. This course introduces classic ABAP programming and starts with the basics: What are variables, what are types? What types of variables are there and how can I use them? How do I define variables? Is it better to define them locally or on the basis of global templates? In the course of answering these questions, a wide variety of ABAP concepts will be discussed: Modularization and database access, designing selection screens and screens, to name just a few of the topics covered. At the end of this course, the participant will have acquired a general basic understanding of programming in ABAP and will be able to create simple ABAP programs themselves. This is a prerequisite for further study and in-depth knowledge of SAP’s own programming language. The entry-level course A01 is designed to lay the foundations for using classic ABAP. In other words, the ABAP that is still used in most SAP standard and customer programs. As ABAP is a living language, it is of course constantly being further developed by SAP. The latest innovations (especially those for the SAP NetWeaver 7.4 and 7.5 releases) are not part of this course!

Course Info:

This course includes: 17 units with a total of 77 quizzes and 68 exercises.

The basis for this course is the ability to navigate in an SAP system.

The Quicks take around 19.5 hours to complete. The processing time for the exercises is of course user-dependent, but we estimate it to be around 15 hours.

Dr. Alexander Maetzing

Lecturer and consultant

Although Alexander Maetzing studied physics, he has been working in the SAP environment for more than 20 years. Originally working in SAP Basis, he quickly expanded his focus to include programming in SAP systems. The experience from both worlds thus flows into his knowledge transfer.
